Everything Bagel

We also read farm newsletters - it’s always heartening and informative to find out what is happening on other farms. One of my favorite newsletters is from Essex Farm across the lake in New York. No wonder that it’s well written - Kristen Kimball is the author of my favorite farmer memoirs - The Dirty Life and Good Husbandry. Essex Farm is a similarly diversified farm - maybe even more so. Their “whole diet” approach to farming has always been an inspiration for us. Essex Farm can always be counted on to make us feel less crazy.

This past week Kristen’s newsletter described June as the”everything bagel” time of year  - all the aspects of the farm rolling at top speed with something always needing attention. She noted that, without the amazing Essex Farm crew, it wouldn’t be remotely possible to keep up with it all. This made me think about our amazing crew - many of whom are new to the farm this season including Greg Sun who joined us in April and has taken over making bagels and added a new sandwich loaf which is available mid-day on Wednesday. In true diversified farm fashion he is also helping with veggies, animals, and you will find him rolling pies at pizza night.

This week we will be stocked with arugula, lettuce mix, kale, rainbow chard,  broccolini, broccoli, greenhouse cukes, rhubarb and asparagus this week.

As always, we have a full selection of our pastured meats, eggs, local milk, yogurt and cheeses plus goodies galore from Marilyn's Kitchen. Have you tried her chocolate croissants?

Summer is here folks! We are now taking reservations for PIZZA NIGHT !  Music this week is from Flagship Romance -an unforgettable alternative folk duo known for breathtaking vocal harmonies, inspired songwriting, and a dynamic live show that leaves audiences feeling like they just made two new best friends. Married singer-songwriters Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson will have you questioning how their larger-than-life sound can come from just two voices and an acoustic guitar.

To make a reservation call the farm at the number below or email Margaret with PIZZA NIGHT in the subject line. Hope to see you all soon!

We will be back at the Chelsea Farmer’s Market on Friday from 3pm-6pm. Come say hi to Luke!

We look forward to seeing you all soon!
