Flash in the Pan

August in Vermont is like driving through a small town - blink and you miss it. Between the shortening days, the inevitable cooler temps and the fact that school starts before the month is over it’s hard to lean into the fact that this very fast month is also the height of summer eating. But lean in we should - savor the tomatoes, the sweet corn, the basil, fresh sweet onions and the cucumbers because they pass quickly and, perhaps because of that, they taste all the better.

In addition to the first sweet corn of the season we will be stocked with arugula, lettuce mix, kale, rainbow chard, cukes, summer squashes, scallions, carrots , snap peas, green beans, radishes, tomatoes and new potatoes.

As always, we have a full selection of our pastured meats and eggs, local milk, yogurt and cheeses plus goodies galore from Marilyn's Kitchen. Freshly baked bread is available on Friday afternoons. You can also pick up bread on Saturday mornings.

FREEZER STOCKING ALERT: Next week we will have a limited number of whole chickens for sale - pick up 5 or more fresh birds directly from the farm and get a discounted price. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you the details.

PIZZA NIGHT Music this week features music from James Graham and Company—a returning pizza night favorite.
