Rolling Up Our Sleeves(and putting on an apron)

Our crew members are starting to return from their winter break (ask Leilani about her bike-packing trip in South America!), the baby lambs are multiplying, we are getting our plans in place for another season of rotational grazing, starting seeds, prepping greenhouses and enjoying the super warm weather! Spring is a process though and the farm never lets you forget that - the forecast turns cold at the end of the 10 day forecast, and the mud and the snow melt can be a real hinderance - both on the roads and for the critters. But after a long and very cold winter we are happy this week to soak up the rays, enjoy the warmth and revel in the company of returning farmers. We are so excited for the coming season!

Speaking of excited - come see Wendell and Margaret (and probably some other crew members too) at Northeast Slopes this Sunday from 12-4pm. Our little volunteer run ski slope is celebrating 90 years and we will be in the kitchen bringing back the famous Nor’easter Burger. This rain or shine, not-to-be missed even also includes birthday cake and they are attempting to have 90 cakes!

Get all the details here - https://northeastslopes.org.  Maybe make a cake and swing on over. If you have never been there rest assured that the tow is a place where the community spirit is abundant and contagious for skiers and nonskiers alike.

Our Cookeville Market is stocked with carrots, beets, parsnips, sweet potatoes, cabbages, garlic, potatoes, onions, greens and tomatoes from Long Wind Farm, a full selection of our pastured meats, eggs, local milk, yogurt and cheeses; and goodies galore from Marilyn's Kitchen. Our very own super sweet spinach is also in stock!

This Friday is a Burger Night! Stop by the Cookeville Market between 5 and 6 and let cook you a farm-raised burger or chicken wings. Country living take out at its finest!
