Comfort Food
We are all waiting around for spring to start. Grateful for the sunny days we have had here and there, grumpy about the slushy snow and really ready to see something green. This week we decided to cook up some comfort food in an effort to help us all remember something we all like about winter - being cozy ! We made two of our favorite soups and - of course - chicken pot pie. A classic feel good food - complete with winter root veggies and frozen beans and peas to remind of us last summer. We also used some of the last few chickens from last season. New chicks will be here before we know it - even if it snows again later this week.
More Signs of Spring at the Cookeville Market! We have our very own spinach and are adding kale to the list this week. We planted seeds last week in our greenhouses so we will have more spring greens soon! We are also stocked with braising mix, carrots, beets, parsnips, sweet potatoes, cabbages, garlic, potatoes, onions, greens and long wind tomatoes. We will have long wind lettuce mix later in the week. As always, we have a full selection of our pastured meats, eggs, local milk, yogurt and cheeses; and goodies galore from Marilyn's Kitchen.
We will not be doing take out this Friday - we want you all to save your appetite for Saturday! The Cookeville Coffee House returns for a mud season special ! Music from The Rough & Tumble and a BBQ feast cooked up by yours truly. March 28th. Dinner at 6. Music at 7. Dinner is $24 for Adults and $12 for kids under 12.
See you soon!
