Lifting

People often ask us how (and maybe why) we can pull off pizza night after a long week of farming. Sometimes we wonder that too - this past week was one of those times. We made, hay, planted the potatoes, trellised many, many tomatoes and cucumbers and dealt with a power outage and more animal care issues that we care to even think about. We also pulled of an event in Thetford on Saturday morning. Then a key pizza crew member called to say he couldn’t make it. Despite the rainy forecast we had a huge crowd. We were feeling pretty darn low.

Then the rest of the crew came early, a crew member from past years called for a reservation and agreed to fill in AND he brought a crew of friends to help, Luke stayed to run the bar and pizza night was saved. The dedication and generosity of our crew after such a hard week was so heartening.

And then Footworks started playing … the weather ended up perfect, the kids and dogs were running around in the field, folks were up and dancing to the fast fiddle tunes, the dessert was delicious, neighbors were catching up on the happenings about town and at lest four or five tables of tourists and pizza night newcomers were left to marvel that something like this really does still happen. And, most importantly, a very tired group of farmers (who also happen to make awesome pizza) felt the love and were lifted up - which is just what we needed.

We will be stocked with arugula, lettuce mix, kale, rainbow chard, broccolini, broccoli, greenhouse cukes, baby summer squashes, peas and radishes. We will have strawberries from our farm and Crossroads Farm (and Marilyn is making biscuits)

As always, we have a full selection of our pastured meats and eggs, local milk, yogurt and cheeses plus goodies galore from Marilyn's Kitchen. Freshly baked bread is available on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. You can also pick up bread on Saturday mornings.

Summer is here folks! We are now taking reservations for PIZZA NIGHT ! Music this week features the return of Otter Creek - a talented trio based in Burlington who will serenade us with blue grass and old time tunes. This band was a crew favorite last season and we can’t wait!

To make a reservation call the farm at the number below or email Margaret with PIZZA NIGHT in the subject line. We will be setting up the circus tent in the event of rain Hope to see you all soon!

We will be back at the Chelsea Farmer’s Market on Friday from 3pm-6pm. Come say hi to Luke!
