Endings and Beginnings
Have to admit - we are super excited to see some cooler days, chilly nights and that little hint of fall in the air. (That said, the summer crops are still growing like bonkers - see below for details on our big tomato sale!) Even as we begin to see the end of summer the veggie crew is quietly starting a whole new winter season - the cucumber greenhouse is becoming a lush forest of spinach, lettuce, kale and other greens and in a few weeks the tomato greenhouse will follow. It can seem crazy and exhausting to be starting all over again but winter growing is truly magical and we can’t wait to share our green goodies with you when the snow flies!
In the meantime…..
Summer is flying by and the Cookeville Market is packed with summer goodness: fresh greens, green beans, sweet and hot peppers, cucumbers, broccolini, zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, garlic, basil, new potatoes, fresh onions, our very own late season strawberries, blueberries and peaches!
This week we have 10 or 20 lb boxes of sauce tomatoes available for a bulk discount - freeze them for later or make sauce on one of these lovely cool days. We also have garlic and herbs if you need them! Email margaret or call the farm at the number below and we can have them ready for you!
We always have treats from Marilyn, local cheese and our farm-raised meats, Chicken and beef are back in stock. So many reasons to come on down to the Cookeville Market!
Many of you are interested in buying some of our whole chickens in bulk (6 or more). We will have them available this Thursday at the farm between 4 and 6 pm. (Sorry for the short notice but we had a few schedule changes with the processing crew.) If you are interested send me an email and we can work out the details.
Just two more summer Saturdays with farm to table pizza, salads and desserts. This week we will have live music from Sled Wrenches - a crew of talented local folks with a fresh new sound.
Call the farm at the number below or email me with "Pizza Night" in the subject line. Pizza starts at 5pm and music at 6pm.
