Chin Up

The drought is getting scary but we are moving forward with fall crops and grazing plans as best we can. We are lucky to have two good wells and an abundance of first cut hay so we are able to irrigate the veggies and feed out hay to the cattle and sheep. We usually have another two months of grazing but the grass just isn’t growing.

Luke has suggested we all leave the windows open in our cars, hang laundry, paint something…make outdoor plans…..We could also do a collective rain dance? Pray?

Despite the drought ….Fall is showing its colors at the Cookeville Market this week...fresh greens, green beans, pumpkins, winter squash, sweet and hot peppers, leeks, broccolini, cauliflower,  zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, garlic, new potatoes, fresh onions, apples, pears and...watermelon (in Vermont this is actually a fall fruit and it's hot this week !).

We always have treats from Marilyn, local cheese and our farm-raised meats. So many reasons to come on down to the Cookeville Market!

We are now taking reservations for our pastured turkeys! Reserve yours today by replying to this email, stopping by the store, or going to the "sign up" page at crossmolinafarm.com! These are fresh birds and pick up is at our Cookeville Market on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
